I am driven by movement. Moving up, moving around, moving out, moving away. I LOVE it.
I love different. I live to go just outside my comfort zone on a daily basis [and believe me, I did not used to be that way].
Last week, I wrote about going to a local coffee shop to do some soul-searching and self-discovery. It was amazing. Besides the fact that the people are so fun to watch, I had a chance to just sit. Drink coffee. And relax.
And for me, that's a feat because I live my life with at least 30 different things to do each day. I almost always have something going on and usually have very little time to myself. So sometimes, even though I'm going full speed ahead, I miss the movement. I overlook the movement.
That's not good.
Because that movement is what helps me learn about myself. It helps me find who I am and who I want to be.
Penelope Trunk, one of my favorite bloggers, said it best in a post about her stopping to observe a recent Jewish holiday:
... Force yourself to isolate for a day. Don't allow yourself to do all the usual things. You will learn something about yourself. It's impossible not to.
So, here's my advice. Stop being comfortable. Do something different. Drastically different. Because doing it will not only teach you about you, but it will help you grow.
